At least that's what she often found herself thinking. As a girl, she would watch them form the back seat of the car on long family trips, the house speeding past, changing shape and colour. There were always people going in and out, apparently doing the same things: mothers with little children, people with shopping bags, bicycles being pushed into lobbies...

 

In her mind the walls were brimming with stories. Her curiosity about other people's lives stayed with her as she grew up, and it became a secret game. Who lived there? What were they doing and saying at that precise moment?

 

Perhaps that's why she became an architect. She chose to knock on the door of people's lives and go inside to meet them.
